Numbers on Our Backs

Maybe this is as good as it gets.

Life as we know it. All the convenience, the comfort, our opportunity.

Look at what is our trend, remember where it is that we have come from. As a species, we are far from being sustainable. With this momentum, something’s gotta give. When my kids grow up it’s either going to be way better than it is right now, or way worse.

From a historical perspective, we’ve never had it better.

Modern tech and the ability to freely communicate.

Longevity, our overall quality of life.

Access to information.

Hours of leisure

But it’s not enough, is it?

Not for these comparable lives we lead.

Way too many of us see ourselves as being less than. Always wanting to improve our positioning, we compete beyond necessity. We want to win in this life. With love, with our health. But win what we know not.

Maybe this is as good as it gets. And maybe that’s ok.

Cause one day we may just find ourselves digging ditches, with numbers on our backs, thinking back on how good we used to have it.
